Tenant First Aid

An AI-powered chatbot for Oregon renters facing eviction or landlord disputes. Developed by Code PDX and Qiu Qiu Law, it helps tenants understand their rights and take action.
Project Description
Tenant First Aid is a volunteer-built, AI-powered legal information chatbot designed to assist Oregon tenants with urgent housing and eviction questions. Like its name suggests, Tenant First Aid acts as a triage tool for renters—providing clear, immediate help to stabilize the situation until further legal assistance can be accessed.
The project is a collaboration between Code PDX and Qiu Qiu Law, led by attorney Michael Zhang, and is designed specifically for Oregon law and local municipal codes.
Built on Google’s gemini-2.5-pro
model, the chatbot responds to user questions using verified references from the Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS 90, ORS 105), Eugene Code Section 8.425, and Portland City Code Title 30. It provides 24/7 access to common questions about rental rights, eviction timelines, landlord obligations, and tenant responsibilities. The chat interface is mobile-friendly, making it accessible to a wide range of users without the need for legal background or training.
