Sandi

A bilingual (English/Spanish) digital assistant on the Miami-Dade Courts website that guides visitors to court information and Family Division self-help resources, with optional voice input and live paralegal handoff.
Project Description
SANDI—short for Self-Help Assistant Navigator for Digital Interactions—is an AI-enhanced web assistant deployed by Florida’s 11th Judicial Circuit (Miami-Dade). It provides 24/7 website navigation help, answering common requests such as judicial directories, courtroom Zoom IDs, and case-information links. SANDI operates in English and Spanish and supports text-to-speech and voice commands for users on audio/microphone-enabled devices, reducing the need to browse menus or search across pages.
Beyond site navigation, SANDI assists self-represented litigants in divorces and related Family Division matters. It answers frequently asked questions about the Family Court Self-Help Program and points users to the correct forms and instructions. When a situation requires a human, SANDI can connect the user to a Self-Help Center paralegal during business hours, or—after hours—capture a callback request for the next business day. The Courts intend to expand SANDI to additional languages and program areas over time.
SANDI was funded by a State Justice Institute grant and implemented in collaboration with the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) and Advanced Robot Solutions. The assistant is positioned as a service aid rather than a source of legal advice: it streamlines wayfinding, improves multilingual access, and integrates with existing Self-Help workflows.
