Seedmore chatbot

Seedmore chatbot

An AI-Supported School Discipline and Special Education Navigator that helps parents understand school discipline, enrollment, and special education processes in Georgia, using curated legal and advocacy materials.

Project Description

Seedmore is an AI-supported navigator developed by Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice with student collaborators at Emory University. The tool provides parents and caregivers with round-the-clock access to structured information about school discipline (including suspensions and expulsions), enrollment issues, and special education rights. It draws on Georgia Appleseed’s parent-facing resources compiled over more than a decade and is designed to present procedural options, key terms, and next steps in plain language.

It appears a chatbot window that overlays on top of the Georgia Appleseed website. It allows people to ask questions 24-7 and receive legal information in response.

The system emphasizes scope control and safety. Seedmore is configured to remain within defined education-law topics, avoid providing legal advice, and reduce off-topic or speculative outputs. Tone and accessibility were considered during development to support a broad range of users, including those unfamiliar with legal terminology.

Seedmore is intended to complement, not replace, existing services such as legal trainings and direct representation. It offers general guidance and references so that parents can better prepare for school meetings or documentation, and, when appropriate, may help them identify whether to seek further assistance.
